Thai Dipping Sauce (Prik Nam Plaa/พริกนำ้ปลา)

This dipping sauce is essential to almost any Thai meal.  It can be found on almost any table in Bangkok.

Made from simple, readily available ingredients. It adds a punch of flavor, unlike anything you have had before.

Thai Dipping Sauce (Prik Nam Plaa/พริกนำ้ปลา)

Dipping Sauce

  • 3 Tbs. Lime juice
  • 3 Tps. Sugar
  • 3 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 Shallot
  • 3 Thai chilis
  • 2 Tbs. Thai Fish Sauce

Dipping Sauce Recipe

  1. Pour lime juice into a small bowl
  2. Put sugar in lime juice bowl and mix them together and make sure that they are all melted
  3. Chop garlic, slice shallot thin and cut chili into small pieces put them in your lime juice bowl and soak them for 1 minute (to keep them fresh and not turning brown)
  4. Finally, mix fish sauce in a bowl and gradually stir them
